Local employers looking to grow their businesses will be exhibiting at the South Devon Jobs Fair in Torquay on Friday 7 October.
Delivered by the TDA in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, this free Jobs Fair will take place in Torquay’s Town Hall Assembly Rooms from 9.30 am to 1 pm and will provide job seekers the opportunity to meet with over 50 local employers across a wide range of sectors who have live vacancies to fill.
With over 50 employers signed up to attend already, job seekers can expect to meet with some of the area’s best employers, including the likes of EMCAS, Clientbase Fulfilment, Devon & Cornwall Police, Bishop Fleming and Domino’s Pizza, plus many more.
Torbay’s Elected Mayor, Gordon Oliver, said: “Following the success of March’s Jobs Fair, we are delighted the Jobs Fair is returning where we hope to see even more job seekers and businesses attending. We are committed to providing support to people to help find work and reduce unemployment and its impact on Torbay, which is reflected in the latest unemployment figures.”
In March, over 600 job seekers met with over 40 employers from across Torbay and South Devon who shared seasonal and permanent employment opportunities with their company.
David Fanous, Managing Director at Clientbase Fulfilment said, “We have always found the South Devon Jobs Fair an excellent opportunity to explain what we do and recruit local staff. Currently we have up to 80 full time and part time seasonal vacancies on offer in our contact centre and warehouse based in Paignton covering a wide range of shifts.”
Debbie Passmore, Partnership Executive at the TDA, said: “We are really excited at the wide range of quality employers attending the South Devon Jobs fair this October. The Jobs fair is a great opportunity for all local employers to engage with job seekers and fill vacancies, free of charge.”
TDA will also be showcasing the range of business support it provides to local employers to help them develop, grow and take on more employees. Jobcentre Plus Work Coaches will be available throughout the day to support and help people with CV’s. Job applications will be available in Torquay Jobcentre.
Lee Tozer, Partnership Manager at Jobcentre Plus, said: “The Jobs Fair provides an excellent opportunity for all jobseekers to meet and talk to employers who have vacancies. I think the Jobs Fair and the support in the Jobcentre will help people fulfil ambitions and move into work.”
The organisers are keen for employers to promote any active vacancies they may have at the time of the event, and in the run up to Christmas to help with seasonal recruitment.
Free employer stands are still available and can be booked online via www.southdevonjobs.co.uk/jobs-fair
Job seekers can just turn up on the day. Advice is to come early and bring copies of your CV.
