Landlords in Teignbridge and Torbay are being encouraged to seize the opportunity to attend free training to make sure they don’t fall foul of rental legislation.
One of the challenges of renting property is keeping up-to-date with the constant introduction of regulations and getting it wrong can leave landlords significantly out of pocket.
That’s why Teignbridge and Torbay Councils are funding free one day courses for landlords, delivered by specialist, professional industry trainers.
Not only will those attending gain a better understanding of their responsibilities as a landlord but they will know they are providing a safe home for their tenants.
As an added incentive, landlords who attend the training will be accredited by the South West Landlords’ Association and receive a free one year membership which will enable them to access support and advice in respect of any rental queries as well as discounted insurance and discounts/loyalty cards at major suppliers.
‘Basic laws of letting’ training for landlords is being held on Thursday 20 February and Thursday 27 February 2020 at Old Forde House, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot, TQ12 4XX
Additional free training sessions are also being offered to letting agents and property managers covering the laws of letting and the laws relating to operating a letting business. This training is open to all letting agents and anyone who receives payment for managing rental property (Property Managers) in Teignbridge and Torbay. Training for letting agents and property managers is being held on 5 March and 19 March 2020 at Old Forde House, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot, TQ12 4XX
Councillor Jackie Hook, Teignbridge Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing, said: “We’re pleased to have obtained funding from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to deliver this fantastic support package on our doorstep, in a way that meets the needs of landlords, property managers and agents in Teignbridge and Torbay”.
“No matter how experienced it’s always wise to check that you are still up to date. As we are able to offer these courses for free it’s the perfect opportunity to up-skill in a safe, non-judgmental environment”
Places will be offered on a first come first served basis.
