A38 closed due broken down tanker with gas leak

Update: The A38 is now open.

The A38 is currently closed in both directions between B3416 and A374 due to a broken down tanker which has a gas leak.

Traffic is building up around the area due to the ongoing incident.

Posting on Twitter, Devon and Cornwall police advised nearby residents in Wolverwood to remain indoors:

“Police are requesting that residents in Wolverwood Lane stay inside their properties whilst specialists attend the scene of a gas leak on a tanker on the A38 Plymouth. This request is a precautionary measure.”

The road is expected to be closed for sometime whilst the incident is dealt with.
