There has not been too much to cheer about recently, but Hive Events is very pleased to announce that following discussions with Torbay Council its plans for “Abbey Christmas” will go ahead this December, subject to any changes in Government Regulations prior to the event.

Abbey Christmas will take place from the 4th December to the 4th January 2021 in the beautiful historic grounds of Torre Abbey. Visitors will be able to enjoy live entertainment at the outdoor stage and seated area (all covered) as well as make purchases from a fantastic selection of locally sourced food, drink, and crafts at the festive Christmas Market.

The Hive Events Team said “We are delighted that this event has been given the go ahead by Torbay Council, and we will continue to work closely with the Council to ensure that the necessary plans are in place to comply with all safety requirements, including those required under the Covid Regulations. We want all our visitors, businesses, and traders to enjoy this event, but their safety is paramount.

“Due to the unprecedented circumstances we have all faced this year we hope that the Christmas Market will offer local businesses and traders an opportunity to promote their products and services, to generate much needed income which in turn will provide a boost to the local economy.

“We have ambitious plans to put Torbay on the “Events Map” and if there is the support locally we want to build on this years successful Movies At The Mansion at Oldway Mansions and run a Proms Night at Oldway next year. We have even started to think about a music festival in 2022.”

The centre-piece and a “must do” for all visitors will be to lace up their skating boots and have a go on the first real ice-rink to have been installed in the area for a generation.

A spokesperson for Hive Events said “It’s a magical and exciting feeling to slide across the ice with family and friends, especially over the festive period. We at Hive Events are proud to be able to offer this opportunity to wheelchair users so that everyone can experience the magic. If you have any worries or questions please feel free to contact us before you book by emailing info@hiveevents.uk”
