An Afternoon with Internationally Best-Selling Author Philip Reeve Saturday 4th November 3pm to 5pm
Fans of fantasy in books and on screen are in for a treat which the English Riviera Film Festival brings Int Best Selling author Philip Reeve to Torquay Museum on Saturday November 4th to discuss his books and to showcase a new film he has directed based on the Arthurian legend of “Gwenevere”.
Reeve is the author of many books including the Mortal Engines series (one of these was turned into a Peter Jackson produced film in 2018 ), Utterly Dark series and Here Lies Arthur, which won the prestigious Cernegie Medal.
Philip will be showcasing his directorial partnership with his wife Sarah. A further exploration of Arthurian legend, Gwenevere is set after the Queen’s fall from grace and power, and details her encounter with an evil Knight, whilst making her way to the abbey where she is to live out her remaining years. The film was shot in locations on Dartmoor, with a cast and crew of film-making talent from across the South West. The screening will take place in the Museum’s 130 seater Pengelly Hall .

Following the screening, Philip will talk about his career as author and illustrator of children’s books, including his collaboration in recent years with British-American writer-illustrator Sarah McIntyre. The audience will also have the opportunity to put questions to Philip, and his Utterly Dark series of books will be on sale for signing by the author in the Torquay Museum shop*.
The museum cafe and bar will be open before the event and during the intermission for refreshments.
