Appeal for information after teenager sexually assaulted in park

Police have appealed for information after reports of a sexual assault in Newton Abbot.

Police are investigating reports of an inciden near the public toilets in Courtney Park on Friday 28th June between 2pm and 3pm.

Police say the victim, a 15-year-old girl, is currently being supported by specialist officers.

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection to the incident and released on bail.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Will Young, said: “We are continuing to investigate reports of a serious sexual assault in Newton Abbot two weeks ago. Police enquires remain ongoing but we are also seeking information from the public, specifically anyone who may have seen two young persons in the area of the covered bench.

“We’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Courtney Park between 2pm and 3pm on 28 June and saw anything suspicious. We’d also like to hear from anyone with any relevant information.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CR/057319/19.
