The incident happened between 4.30am and 5am on Saturday 26 March.

Police and the fire service attended the incident. There were no reported injuries. Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything in connection with the incident to come forward.

Detective Constable Kezia Worden said: “This fire has caused significant damage to the outside area of the pub.

“It is lucky it did not cause further damage to the property itself and harm to the occupants inside.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, or email 101@dc.police.uk, quoting crime reference CR/025450/22.
