Police have appealed for witnesses following two armed robberies in Paignton over the weekend.
The first happened on Friday, 25th January at Tesco Express on Victoria Street at around 10.10pm. It was reported to police that a man had entered the store in possession of a knife and hammer and made threats. The suspect was reported to have taken an unknown quantity of cash before leaving the scene.
The second incident happened yesterday, Sunday 27th January at Betfred bookmakers, Palace Avenue at around 6pm. It was reported to police that a suspect had entered the store in possession of a hammer and knife and left with an unknown quantity of cash.
No one was harmed during the incidents.
Enquires lead officers to an address in Paignton where two men were detained and a weapon and other items seized.
These incidents are currently being treated as linked.
A 25-year-old man from Paignton and a 45-year-old man from Torquay were later arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in police custody at this time
Investigating officers are appealing for witnesses and information relating to these incidents to be reported to 101 quoting CR/007857/19.
