Torbay on the Move, Torbay Council’s programme to get more people moving more often, is inviting applications for two funding pots.

More Active, More Often aims to encourage participation in sport and physical activity. The fund focuses on working with people who are less likely to use physical activity to improve their wellbeing.

Awards of up to £2,000 are available for clubs, groups, and activity providers to run activities to increase participation.

At the same time, Torbay on the Move is launching its Believe to Achieve grants for Torbay’s elite and talented athletes.

The grant will ensure individuals can achieve their sporting dreams and inspire others on the way.

Grants of up to £1,500 (depending on level of competition) are available for additional training on top of normal club fees, equipment, competition fees and expenses.

Councillor Hayley Tranter, Cabinet Member for Adult and Community Services, Public Health and Inequalities, said: “The heart of all sport and physical activity lies within local clubs, community groups, and activity providers. I would encourage local sports organisations and community groups to apply for the More Active, More Often funding so that people get all the support they need to start their fitness journey and improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

“Believe to Achieve is part of our commitment to nurture the sporting talent of tomorrow. Training costs, travel, equipment, and competition fees can soon mount up. We are providing grants to avoid these costs becoming financial hurdles that prevent athletes from achieving their full potential. “

Torbay on the Move awards grants four times a year. Panel reviews take place in June, September and December 2025, and March 2026. To ensure your application is taken to panel, return applications by:

4pm Wednesday 28 May 2025
4pm Wednesday 27 August 2025
4pm Wednesday 26 November 2025
4pm Wednesday 25 February 2026
