Rowcroft Hospice is inviting the people of South Devon to whip up some delicious, sweet treats and raise dough for the charity by joining its Big Bake fundraising event that runs throughout June. Everyone is encouraged to host their own Big Bake gathering, whether it’s a cosy coffee morning with friends, a garden tea party with neighbours, a bake-off style competition, or a cake sale at work or school. All that’s needed are a few key ingredients including a venue, some eager bakers and good tea makers!
“The Big Bake is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a chance for friends, families, or colleagues to connect over a cuppa and a scrumptious slice of cake while making a real difference to the lives of our patients with life-limiting illnesses,” said Rowcroft’s Events Manager Alexia Croft. “Every pound raised helps us provide essential care and support to those who need it most.
“Whether you’re hosting a cake sale, coffee morning, tea party, or bake-off, the Big Bake is a great opportunity to get creative, have some fun in the kitchen, and make a meaningful impact in your community. When you sign up, you’ll receive a free fundraising pack full of top tips to make everything super easy.”
Rowcroft invites participants to share photos of their delicious culinary creations on social media, tagging the hospice to spread the word and inspire others to join in the fun.
Every pound raised through Rowcroft’s Big Bake directly supports the hospice in delivering specialist care, comfort, and support to local patients and those closest to them.
£60 could pay for a patient to receive two complementary therapy sessions, such as massage or reflexology, to help promote relaxation and well-being.
£265 could pay for overnight care for a patient at home, enabling a family to get a good night’s sleep knowing their loved one is receiving expert care and support.
£486 could pay for a patient with complex needs to receive a day’s specialist care and support in our Inpatient Unit.
“Please do support the hospice by taking part in our Big Bake,” added Alexia Croft.
“Simply choose a date and time in June that works for you, or another convenient day, and then spread the word, and get baking! You and your sweet creations will make such a difference in helping to care for our community.”
