A local community champion is looking for ‘Community Listeners’ to help to transform health and social care throughout the county.
Healthwatch in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay is the local independent champion for people using health and social care services.
They listen to people’s views and experiences of local services like GPs, Hospitals, Dentists and Care Homes. They then and encourage those in charge to use what they have heard in decisions that affect local people.
They have recently launched a campaign to ask for local people to not only share their experiences of using health and social care services in the region, but also to gather and share the experiences of other people.
Dr Kevin Dixon, Chair of Healthwatch in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay, said:
“We are looking for local people and organisations to be the eyes and ears of healthcare locally and to listen, gather and share people’s stories.
We work for positive change in health and social care in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay. As well as highlighting good practice within services, we want to make sure that people across the county have equal access to health and social care services, including those who are less likely to have their voices heard.
That’s why we are asking for people interested in helping us to get in touch. It really could make a difference.”
Healthwatch can provide people with training, support, and in some cases travel expenses, to help with their mission to find out more about what matters to local people when it comes to their health and social care.
