Boy riding scooter dies after being hit by car

A 13-year-old boy has died following a collision with a car in Plymouth last night, Wednesday 3rd April.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Sandy Road Plympton just after 8.20pm.

The boy, who was on a micro scooter was hit by a BMW. He was taken to Derriford hospital where he was sadly pronounced deceased. His next of kin have been informed.

A 29-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

Thr road was closed whilst police investigations took place. Enquiries are ongoing.

Witnesses are requested to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101 with information, quoting log number 739 of 3 April.
