Brixham celebrated the annual Lantern, Lights and ‘luminations parade on Saturday evening and thousands flocked to the centre of town to enjoy the precession.
Hundreds took part showing off their home made lanterns and bringing a magical feel to the town, lighting up the streets on their way. There were bands playing in the streets, happy smiling faces all around, street entertainers, food stalls and gifts a plenty to keep all the crowds entertained while people either grabbed a mulled wine or a warm coffee from cafes such as The Bay Coffee Company.
An exciting atmosphere could be felt in the air and a group of do gooders were even handing out free presents to people in random acts of kindness. Making the evening extra special.
After the parade, the annual switching on of the lights to large cheers and then the finale, the fireworks display. Unlike the previous 2 years, the temperature wasn’t as cold, and standing by the water admiring the intensity of the colour and the sound of a breathtaking display capped the evening off perfectly.
Despite its small size, Brixham really is something very special and never ceases to amaze with the events held there throughout the year. Add the dates for your 2020 diaries now and make sure not to miss this annual great event next year!
Merry Christmas!
