South Devon’s multi award-winning holiday park, Cofton Holidays, has invested £80,000 in a new high ropes and skywalks course to enhance its year-round family appeal.
Gold winner of the Holiday Park of the Year and Dog Friendly Business of the Year awards at the Visit Devon Awards 2021/22, Cofton has opened its Tree Top Adventure High Ropes Course for both day visitors and guests staying on site.
Located near Dawlish Warren, Cofton’s adrenalin-fuelled course features 16 different stations, each
elevated eight metres above the ground, high amongst the canopy of Cofton’s mature woodland.
Adventurers aged eight and above with a minimum height of 1m and maximum weight of 120kg can look forward to high-rope action, strapped safely into harnesses fitted by Cofton’s expert safety team, and connected to the continuous aerial guide wire.
Making their way around the course on the integrated belay system, high-flyers can test their nerve as they navigate their way across narrow tightropes, rickety bridges, a climbing wall, and a skateboard with pulleys before whizzing back down to terra firma on a mega zipline. There is even a boat buoy which promotes teamwork as the explorer has to hold onto the buoy whilst another person uses the pulley to assist.
Helen Scott, Director at Cofton Holidays, commented: “We’re delighted to announce the launch of our new Tree Top Adventure High Ropes Course.
“We’re always looking to expand our appeal as an all year-round, all-weather destination. For us, the high ropes course was a natural leap forward, building on our indoor entertainment complex, heated indoor pool with splash pad area, soft play area, amusement arcade and bowling alley.
“Having previously invested in our woodland adventure area and zip-line for children, we wanted to go bigger and better so that the whole family could hit new highs together, delivering family fun for everyone.
“For a heart-racing experience, swinging through the tree-tops, channelling your inner George of the Jungle, nothing beats it!”
The mature Cofton Woods, in which the new high ropes course sits, is located directly above the indoor complex.
As part of Cofton’s ongoing commitment to operate as a sustainable holiday park, these well-established trees have been left to grow since the park was established in 1975 and provide a strong sturdy framework for the challenging course. Built using machined timber elements, the course blends seamlessly into its surroundings, giving thrill seekers a chance to connect with nature whilst creating adrenalin-fuelled memories.
45-minute sessions for Cofton’s Tree Top Adventure High Ropes Course cost £18 per person and must be pre-booked. To book, visit www.coftonholidays.co.uk or call 01626 890111.
Day visitors can tie-in their high ropes adventure session with a visit to Cofton’s heated indoor pool. Perfect for families, the pool offers bubbling water jets, a splash pad area and hydrotherapy loungers to keep everyone entertained. Swim sessions must be booked in advance.
The investment in the family-friendly aerial adventure zone follows a successful 2021 for Cofton Holidays, which experienced unprecedented demand for accommodation over the sell-out summer and record off-peak bookings in the shoulder seasons.
Having invested £300,000 in four dog-friendly fishing lodges and £200,000 in 48 new super pitches for caravans and Recreational Vehicles (RVs), Cofton is able to offer its largest ever range of accommodation in 2022.
New and existing guests can look forward to enjoying the flourishing rewilding work on site, much of which was undertaken during lockdown, further adding to Cofton’s strong sustainability credentials. This year, nature corridors constructed from shrubs and hedging, as well as colourful wildflower zones and tussocky grassland are set to be in their prime, attracting insects and pollinators, providing enhanced nesting environments and food for a variety of birds and bats.
