Colouring competition to inspire nature-loving children

Creative colleagues at Newton Abbot Tesco are inviting youngsters to get to the art of the matter by supporting Paignton Zoo.

The zoo is celebrating 100 years of providing first-hand insights into the natural world for generations of families, and to help mark the centenary children can take part in an animal-themed colouring competition.

An array of eye-catching pictures can be picked up from the front of the superstore on Newton Road from 27 March and must be returned by 13 April for judging. The winner will receive a free family ticket (two adults and two children) to visit Paignton Zoo.

Janette Parker, Community Champion at the Tesco Superstore, said: “Most people living in South Devon have been to Paignton Zoo and seen for themselves the incredible work they do.

“Not only do they provide unforgettable experiences for visitors, but they are also involved in worldwide projects to help preserve many species for future generations.

“We are proud to be part of their 100th anniversary celebrations, and we hope this colouring competition will inspire many young people to think about the zoo’s work and the wonder of nature.”

Katie White, Paignton Zoo’s Events and Corporate Relationship Manager, said she was looking forward to seeing the artwork from young people across South Devon.

She added: “We’re very excited to be collaborating with Tesco and hope that this competition will encourage curiosity about wildlife as well as creativity.

“Paignton Zoo is a registered charity and home to more than 2,000 animals. By visiting us you are supporting our conservation efforts, in the UK and overseas, which aim to help halt species decline.”

To mark its centenary, many special events showcasing the zoo’s past, present and future are available throughout 2023. To find out more about these events visit paigntonzoo.org.uk
