Concern for injured seal spotted in Labrador Bay

The public have been asked to keep an eye out for an injured seal after it was spotted yesterday entangled in fishing tackle.

The seal, seen at Black Aller’s Cove, Labrador bay is said to look underweight due to difficulty eating.

Devon Sea Safari, a Teignmouth based boat tour business spotted the seal yesterday, Thursay 18th July, whilst out on a trip.

They posted on social media alerting the public and asking them to be on the lookout, saying:
“Unfortunately we came across a seal entangled in fishing tackle on this afternoons trip. It was in Black Allers Cove ,Labrador Bay. Please be on the lookout and report to BDMLR on 01825765546 asap if you come across it. It looks under weight and needs help. It may appear anywhere in Labrador Bay,”

British Divers Marine Life Rescue is an organisation dedicated to the rescue and well being of all marine mammals in distress around the UK. The team is made up of trained volunteer marine mammal medics who respond to call outs from the general public, HM Coastguard, RSPCA and SSPCA.
