The builder behind two major developments in Plymouth has donated £3,000 to the charity arm of Plymouth Argyle FC.
Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon presented the cheque at Home Park to Argyle Community Trust, alongside the Leader of Plymouth Council, Cllr Tudor Evans, and Cllr Sue Dann, Cabinet Member for Sport.
The funds will be going towards supporting the charitable work delivered from the Hub at Foulston Park, due to launch this spring. More specifically, the funding will help Argyle Community Trust to deliver new weekly football and multi-sport sessions to local children with a disability.
The Trust is the official charity for Plymouth Argyle FC. They have been operating for over 20 years, offers a large range of activities and programmes from football to nationally recognised educational qualifications, from health to social action and disability. The populations they serve face barriers in relation to health, well-being, education, employment, levels of physical activity, and high deprivation.

Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon Sales Director Jane Cartwright said:
“We’re delighted to have finalised our agreement with Plymouth Community Homes to deliver homes for a local housing association at Palmerston Heights.
“This development is a major one that will benefit hundreds of families in Plymouth, and the significant proportion of it that will be reserved for housing associations is a core part of our mission to leave a positive and lasting legacy where we build.
“Persimmon looks forward to building on our partnership with Plymouth Community Homes across the city.”
Dwain Morgan, Head of Business Development from Argyle Community Trust, added:
“We are incredibly grateful to Persimmon Homes for their generous donation towards our new children’s disability football sessions. Their support is helping us create a fun environment where young players can build confidence, develop skills, and enjoy making new friends.
“Thanks to Persimmon, we’re able to purchase inclusive equipment and deliver new opportunities to local children who can often find accessing community sport difficult. We look forward to bringing this opportunity to life.”
Cllr Tudor Evans – Leader of Plymouth City Council – commented:
“It is great to see a major developer like Persimmon support such a valued charity like Argyle Community Trust, who do so much good work in our community.
“We were pleased to join both parties and discuss their activities locally and look forward to seeing the results of the donation towards Brickfields Sports Hub.
Cllr Sue Dann – Cabinet Member for Sport at Plymouth City Council – also said:
“The work of Plymouth Argyle Community Trust in communities supporting access to football is outstanding, so a big thanks to Persimmon for their donation to such a great local charity.
“The funds will be used at The Hub at Foulston Park, Brickfields for the local community, to support specialist provision to ensure playing football is more accessible for people with different needs.”
