Devon site managers at Barratt Homes developments win top national award for quality

Two site managers at Barratt Homes developments: Victoria Heights near Exeter and Berry Acres in Paignton have been recognised as among the best in the country after winning a top national award for overseeing the build of quality new homes at their sites.

Paul Stubbs and Dan Rutherford have both won a Pride in the Job Quality Award from the National House Building Council (NHBC) which are widely regarded as the “Oscars of the housebuilding industry”.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes site managers have won more Pride in the Job Quality awards than any other housebuilder for 18 consecutive years, underlining their long-term commitment to build high quality homes.

In total, 98 site managers won Pride in the Job awards this year, which showcase the best site managers in the country who can demonstrate exceptional standards in building new communities and delivering the highest quality homes for their customers. Each site manager is judged on a range of key criteria including health and safety, their technical knowledge, customer service and attention to detail to the overall presentation of the development.

Every site manager who is registered with the NHBC is automatically entered into the awards, with just 450 winners being selected from over 11,000 entrants.

The awards also help to build quality standards across both developments and teams, with winning site managers invariably having an assistant site manager working with them. They in turn learn the high standards that are needed to win, so increasing quality throughout the industry.

Andrew Spicer, managing director for Barratt Homes Exeter, said: “We want to make our customers happy by building high quality homes for them. We continually invest in our site managers and our teams and support them to achieve this award that recognises the best new homes and well-run sites. We’re extremely proud of our record having won more of these awards than any other housebuilder for 18 years in a row – this means every customer who buys a home built by a site manager who has won a Pride in the Job Quality award can have confidence that their property is of the highest possible standard.”

These awards closely follow Barratt Developments being awarded 5 stars by its customers for satisfaction in the annual Home Builders Federation (HBF) new homes survey. To be rated 5 star means that more than 90% of its customers would recommend one of its homes to a friend, with Barratt being the only major national housebuilder to be rated 5 star for 13 years in a row.

Victoria Heights is a development of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes in an enviable location, just 10 minutes from the centre of Exeter, with all of its restaurants, bars and amenities. Dartmoor National Park is just a short drive while Dawlish Warren and Exmouth beaches are less than half an hour away.

Berry Acres is a development of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes on the edge of Paignton. Created with the environment in mind, Berry Acres has lots of open space for the whole family to explore, along with habitats for wildlife including a brand new Owl barn.
