Police are investigating a hit-and-run collision in Torquay yesterday, Sunday 25th June, which left an elderly woman seriously injured.
The incident happened in Happaway road at around 6pm, an 88 year old woman was struck by a car which left the scene. The woman was initially taken to Torbay Hospital but due to the severity of leg and head injuries was transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth for further treatment.
Police enquiries led to a silver Peugeot estate being located at a nearby industrial estate and seized by police. A 63-year-old man from Torquay voluntarily attended Torquay police station and was interviewed about the incident by officers from the Roads Policing Team.
The road was closed for three hours while police carried out an examination of the scene.
Officers from the Roads Policing Team at Crownhill police station are investigating the collision and are appealing for witnesses to contact them via 101@dc.police.uk or by telephone on 101, quoting log number 745 of 25/06/17.
