This year’s annual Exmouth Lifeboat Weekend will take place on the weekend of Saturday
17 and Sunday 18 August 2019.
On Saturday 17 August the Maer Rocks Festival will launch the weekend, due to take place
from 12:00 – 21:00hrs at the Queens Drive Space, Exmouth, EX8 2AY. As well as the existing
permanent Queen’s Drive Space food stalls and bar, Good Game Topsham, Say Cheese, Quick
Gin and Crossed Anchors Brewing will all have stands at the event.
In addition, there will be Face Painting for the children, Mrs Snuggles Slime, and a special visit
from the RNLI Mascot, Stormy Stan.
Attractions will include RNLI volunteers with stalls such as the Exmouth RNLI Shop; The RNLI
Face to Face team, Community Safety stand, and an inflatable Inshore Lifeboat. Others include
RNLI Lifeguards, H.M. Coastguard, Devon & Cornwall Police and Fire Service with a fire
appliance, subject to operational commitments.
We have an amazing line-up of Bands and Artists performing at the Festival, including Sarah
Jory, Haytor, Rock The Night, Telstar, Bolynne, Stereo Social Musicians, Poppy Fardell and DJ
Push3r, to keep you entertained throughout.
The free, family friendly festival will focus on promoting the RNLI Sea Safety message to all, but
with special emphasis towards the younger generation and to highlight the current RNLI
‘Respect The Water’ and ‘Float to Live’ campaigns promoted by the charity’s volunteers. Special

The following day, Sunday 18 August 2019 there will be an Open Day at the Lifeboat Station,
Queens Drive, Exmouth from 10am – 3pm.
This will be a perfect opportunity for everyone interested in the Exmouth Lifeboat Station, it’s all
weather Shannon class Lifeboat, R and J WELBURN, the inshore D class inflatable lifeboat
George Bearman II, equipment, volunteer crew, fundraisers and other staff, to find out what they
do and how they do it.
Guided tours of the lifeboat station will be conducted throughout the day and crew volunteers
will be on hand to explain their roles and to answer questions. The Exmouth RNLI Shop will be
open throughout the open day to provide an ideal opportunity to purchase a huge variety of
gifts, clothing, models and other items, all in support of this amazing charity whose volunteers
save lives at sea. Ice creams will be also on sale at the event.
The station RNLI Community Safety Officer will be available to answer questions, give general
water safety advice and provide a free check of your equipment such as lifejackets etc., RNLI
Lifeguards will also be on hand to give an insight into their important lifesaving work.
Activities will include Launch the Lifeboat, Throw Lines at Target, Throw Sponges at the Crew,
and What’s in the Welly, with special attractions such as Toffee Nosed, Beach Buddies, Face
Painting and more.
A raffle will be held to raise important funds for Exmouth RNLI, tickets will be available on both
days and in the run up to the weekend.
Special thanks to those who have donated raffle prizes that include a two night stay for two,
Bed & Breakfast with afternoon tea at the Lifeboat College in Poole to include a guided tour of
the complex; a family Ringo Ride courtesy of Exe Wake; a meal voucher from Rockfish; two
free games of Bowling at Ocean for 4, a one hour trip on the Exmouth Land Train and a River
Exe Cruise both for 2 Adults & 2 children, each courtesy of Stuart Line Cruises and two tickets
to the Christmas Panto at the Pavilion Theatre.
Special thanks to CSG Pollitt Ltd, Subaru Dealers of Exeter – supporting Exmouth RNLI by
fundraising through their showroom and customer base in Exeter and who will also be
exhibiting their latest Subaru Forester model at this event.
Chair of Exmouth RNLI Fundraising Committee, Robin Humphreys, said “Our Exmouth RNLI
Lifeboat Weekend is going to be two days full of fun, games and activities for all ages. It will
provide an opportunity for all to learn more about our charity, its volunteers, water safety, our
crew, boats and resources and how we save lives at sea as well as raising those important
funds for equipment and training.”
Cream Teas, chocolates and other refreshments will be provided by our volunteers, so why not
