Experience a day of fun and excitement at Torre Abbey’s first summer fair!

Torre Abbey, a cherished historical landmark, and cultural hub in Torquay, is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated inaugural Summer Fair, set to take place on Saturday 19 August.

Inspired by an 1849 print depicting a celebration on the front lawn, Torre Abbey’s summer fair promises to be a wonderful day of family-friendly entertainment, with an array of activities, live performances, local vendors, and much more.

Mark your calendars for next weekend and join Torre Abbey for a day filled with joy and delight and a traditional carnival atmosphere.

Torre Abbey’s Summer Fair starts at 10am and continue until 4pm and is being held in the grounds surrounding Torre Abbey and the Spanish Barn.

Revel in the delightful melodies from a hand pan duo Laura and Lydon Forste from 10am, children will also enjoy our Lullabubbas Early Years & Adult Sing alongs, before the talented New Daze duo take to the stage. As the day continues be captivated by live performances from the Grimspound Border Morris Dancers and the All Hands On Deck Shanty group.

Discover unique treasures and handmade crafts as you peruse through the stalls of carefully selected local vendors. There is diverse selection on offer from over fifteen local craft stalls, some are Torre Abbey Winter Fest favourites whilst others are fantastic new suppliers.

Children and adults alike can immerse themselves into a traditional summer fair, with face painting, carnival games, donkey rides, interactive children’s activities, storytelling workshops from author Claire Helen Walsh and take part in Forest School workshops. The Rare Breeds Survival Trust will be on site with a rare breeds animal pen, Torre Abbeys very own beekeeper will be giving talks on bees and Torquay Library will be encouraging children to sign up to the Summer Reading Challenge.

To keep you energised throughout the day you can sample an enticing array of culinary delights available at the Torre Abbey Café and the Elizabethan Inn food stall and enjoy hot, cold, or alcoholic beverages from the Torre Abbey Café or The Bus Bar.

The event is free to attend, so join the Torre Abbey team Saturday 19 August for a day full of fun and entertainment at Torre Abbey’s first Summer Fair. This spectacular event promises to be an unforgettable experience for guests of all ages, which celebrates our community within the magnificent grounds of Torre Abbey.
