In times of uncertainty, humour can keep us going. That is why Torquay Comedy Club have launched the first ever ‘Devon Dad Joke Championship’. This light-hearted competition features Devonians submitting their favourite dad jokes in an attempt to win a prize bundle worth over £150.
A dad joke can be defined as a joke so bad it’s good and Torquay Comedy Club are calling all Devon residents that love making their friend’s eyes roll to send in their favourite joke. The winner will not only win a trophy for the mantlepiece but will also win a huge prize bundle including two tickets to see Jason Manford at the Torquay Comedy Club Grand Show, a bottle of Brixham Gin, a Finley Browns treat box and a Selection of Brewery beers. There will also be prize bundles for second and third place as well.
Torquay Comedy Club founder and local resident, Ben Milden explained why they set up the competition: “Since lockdown began we’ve hosted a variety of successful comedy initiatives to help keep spirits lifted. We’ve organised our first ever online gig, shared tonnes of content on our social media channels, including over 30 hours of free comedy on our YouTube Channel and now we are giving residents the chance to win the first Devon Dad Joke Championship 2020.
“It’s a very silly thing to do, but it feels like silly is really important at the moment. Plus, who doesn’t love a dad joke? So get thinking and send us 3 of your favourite.”
All submissions must be in by midnight on Wednesday 1st July 2020 with the winner being announced on Saturday 4th July 2020.
All entrants must be at least 18 years old (due to the alcoholic prizes).
