Free event to connect South Devon employers with job seekers

South Devon employers, who are actively recruiting, will be exhibiting at a Jobs Fair in Torquay on Friday 4 March.

Sponsored by TUC Union Learn and delivered by TDA and Jobcentre Plus in partnership. This free event will take place in Torquay’s Town Hall Assembly Rooms from 10am to 3pm. The event will provide job seekers the opportunity to meet with over 50 local employers.

Torbay’s Elected Mayor, Gordon Oliver, said: “I am pleased to be able to support this important event. We are committed to providing support to people to help find work and reduce unemployment and its impact on Torbay. This event can match job vacancies with skills and provide an excellent platform for job seekers to find employment.”

Employers from across Torbay and South Devon will be on hand to offer seasonal and permanent employment opportunities with their company.

TDA will be showcasing the range of business support it provides to local employers to help them develop and grow, with advisors available throughout the day.

Debbie Passmore, Partnership Executive at the TDA, said: “This event provides a great opportunity to build on our strong links with employers across the region to actively increase employment opportunities to residents. There is a real commitment from our business community and service providers to pull together and make this event a success and help people secure employment.

“We’re working hard with local employers and we’re keen to hear from other employers in Torbay and South Devon who would like to take part.”

Rob Garrett, Senior Union Support Officer at Union Learn, said: “We are proud to be sponsoring this event as it provides the perfect opportunity for individuals to speak to employers and gain an understanding about the requirements of the job roles and how to apply. South Devon offers a fantastic range of opportunities from tourism to construction, with seasonal, permanent, apprenticeship and graduate roles available.”

The organisers are keen for employers to promote any active vacancies they may have and sign up to attend the event for free of charge as an exhibitor.

Employers wanting to exhibit at the event can contact Debbie Passmore on Deborah.passmore@tedcltd.com or call 01803 208378.
Job seekers can book on to the event for free by visiting www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/jobsfair-2016-tickets-20753916523
