Friday line up announced for Occombe Beer Festival 2017

Preparations for this year’s two day music and Beer Festival here on Occombe Farm are now well under way. Taking place on 16th and 17th June  the festival is promising that it will be better than ever: with a fantastic musical line up; more exceptional local food; all your favourite beers and ciders alongside a selection of wines and Pimms.

Amongst the 2017 musical performers are some of the best local bands and artists from across the South West. On Friday the 16th June you can expect to be chilling and swaying to folk songs one minute and jumping along to R’n’B, funk and pop the next! This is a line-up of five local, very talented and much lauded musical performers.

A night packed full of fun, noise and beer!

Headlining is Duke Johnson and the Scorchers. The Scorchers are sound supporters of the Festival and have played it many times in previous years. In their words they are not a tribute band but are a tribute to some of the best acts and songs in the world. Fronted by the Duke, the band promises a high energy set with a selection of songs that span over 4 decades, including hits from The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Police and U2.

The honour of opening the 2017 festival falls on the shoulders of local artist Alex Dobson.  Alex is a local Folk/Rock acoustic singer songwriter from Exeter, Devon. His music ranges from smooth folk to upbeat rock which will definitely get you on your feet and dancing; perfect to get the party started!

More local bands, the O’Marleys and Mammoth also make for an exciting programme. The O’Marleys are a lively, fun band offering an exciting mix of traditional Irish songs, jigs and reels as well as the odd musical surprise while making everything uniquely their own. You will be foot stomping, toe tapping, arms waving!

Mammoth pledge to get you singing along and tapping your feet too! Their eclectic set list is an energetic mix of Funk, R’n’B, Pop and HipHop. They say they work hard for other artists, from Bruno Mars to Aerosmith, Michael Jackson to Beyoncé and some climatic 80s and 90s medleys thrown in for good party measure.

There is just one more band to announce for Friday and there is an equally exciting line up planned for Saturday night. Saturday’s headline act too, which will be released next week.

Tickets for this year’s festival will be on sale in the Spring. Early Bird tickets will be launched for sale on 31st March until 20th April, with tickets on general release from Friday 21st April.
