A local member of Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust was delighted to learn of his big win recently in the Cockington Green Heart Appeal Raffle.

Mr Carty scooped first prize, a whopping £1,000, in the annual draw and is now planning a longed for trip to New York in April. On meeting Trust Director, Damian Offer last week, Mr Carty told of his utter delight on hearing of his win and now being able to realise this lifelong ambition.

Mr Carty said,
“I was shocked and thrilled on hearing this fantastic news, especially as I have never really won anything before! Now I am looking forward to visiting New York, somewhere I have always wanted to go!”

The raffle tickets were drawn on Monday 30th October at the Cockington Visitor Centre and presented to the winners on Friday 17th November.

Damian Offer said:
“We would like to thank everyone who bought a raffle ticket and supported the Green Heart Appeal. This project is restoring key heritage assets in Cockington for the benefit of the local community and visitors. We have so far successfully restored the derelict Linhay, Gamekeeper’s Cottage, desilted the ponds and will be restoring the landscaping around The Lakes over the next two years. Our annual Green Heart Raffle helps raise much needed funds towards the overall £1.66M cost of the restoration scheme and we could not achieve this without such generous support”

Second and third prize winners have also been contacted and are the lucky recipients of £100 and £50 each. The Trust runs lots of events and activities in the park which help raise funds for the Appeal including Cockington Dog Day.
