Speaking about the exhibition, curator Marissa Wakefield also Cockington Court Director said: “Interest from local artists has been fantastic and many have created new work especially. We are excited to reveal that part of the exhibition includes an incredible life-sized Neptune sculpture, along with a mesmerising 6ft dragon mid-flight, crafted out of driftwood. Both pieces have been created by the talented Zen Wood Designs. In addition to this we have wonderful creations from Anna Fitzgerald, Malcom Curley, Verity Newman and Nikki Ella Whitlock, not forgetting a huge giant 3d mural by our very own talented artist in residence James Murch.”

To officially launch and celebrate the exhibition, shanty duo ‘Cask’ will be performing live at the Court on Saturday 2 April and Saturday 9 April during the afternoon. The mermaid and pirate shanty duo will be singing new and old shanties and sea songs from 2pm onwards, at the front of the Manor House. The live music and exhibition is free of charge and everyone is welcome to come along.

Gods and Monsters forms part of the inspiring, seasonal exhibition programme at Cockington Court. Throughout the year the programme aims to showcase and support a diverse range of art exhibitions that celebrate creativity and the community and enable art to be accessible to all.
