Update: 1st February. Both routes are now open.
Haldon Hill and Telegraph Hill closed due to snow this evening, Thursday 31st January.
Traffic is at a complete standstill, with motorists being advised to stay with their vehicles.
Dartmoor search and rescue team Ashburton posted in Facebook: “If you are stuck in snow at Haldon or Telegraph Hill please stay with your vehicles. We are working hard to check and clear carriage ways.”
It is reported by those at the scene on Haldon Hill that a double decker bus is causing issues further up.
Emergency services and 4×4 response are in attendance, Bovey Tracey Fire Station have been on Haldon Hill since this afternoon as part of an emergency action plan. Posting on Facebook, they said: “Bovey Tracey are currently deployed to Haldon Hill as part of the emergency action plan due to expected snow and ice. Please consider alternative arrangements for travel and heed advice from the Met Office and other sources of information. We will endeavour to update as and when we can”
An amber weather warning has been issued by the met office and is in place until 9pm tomorrow.
