January is a time when many of us want to give our body a break after the indulgence of all the Christmas and New Year festivities. Reducing the amount of alcohol you consume is a good place to start.
Dry January is a national initiative and involves having a whole month off alcohol, which can have very positive effects on your overall health and wellbeing. It boosts your energy levels and improves your sleep, but it also gives you a sense of achievement and you can save you money too. Evidence shows that two-thirds of participants are still drinking less by month six, so there are long term benefits too.
Last January, over two million adults participated in Dry January and tens of thousands of people signed up online. Dry January is not about never drinking again, it just gives you the opportunity to give your body a break from alcohol, so why not get involved in 2016 and start experiencing the benefits.
