Holiday park in Devon receives 5 stars for facilities

Cofton Holidays’ award-winning run continues with news that the South Devon holiday park has received one of the highest accolades in the world of camping and caravanning for the second year running.

The family-run business located near the pretty coastline of Dawlish Warren, has been awarded the AA 5 Pennant Gold accreditation for its outstanding camping offering and facilities. Cofton has 450 caravan and tent pitches, including over 50 hard standing pitches.

The news comes after Cofton Holidays was announced as the best holiday park in Devon at the Visit Devon Awards 2018, winning Gold in the Holiday Park of the Year category and Silver in the Responsible, Ethical and Sustainable Tourism category.

Recently, Cofton scooped Gold in the Holiday Park and Village of the Year category at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2018/19.

Each year, the AA visits over 900 camp sites and only the crème de la crème make it to the annual awards. AA’s campsite inspectors look at touring pitches, facilities and hospitality before grading the site from one to five pennants, including the Gold Pennants, which are awarded to the best parks.

The inspections include a thorough assessment of customer care, quality and cleanliness of facilities, standard of public areas, range of amenities, size and layout of pitches and quality of grounds and landscaping.

Cofton achieved a 92% approval rating with particular mention for:
Its well-stocked coarse fishing lakes
The attractive outdoor pool and excellent indoor pool with fun splash pad area
Its bar and restaurant with outside seating and terrace area
Its extensive everyday entertainment programme
The spotless facilities and large, well-maintained pitches

Reginal AA Inspector Chris Pike commented: “Cofton Holidays never stands still, and it was good to see the enhancements made for this year. Extra hardstanding pitches have been constructed with ranch-style fencing between each, and two easy access hardstanding pitches have also been added close to the toilet facilities in Ten Acre Field. All the facilities blocks were spotlessly clean with good grade fixtures and fittings, and the dish wash and laundry rooms were also clean and tidy.”

Helen Scott, Director at Cofton Holidays, added: “We’re delighted to receive the news that we will be awarded the 5 Pennant Gold Award this year. It’s thanks to the hard-work and dedication of our team coupled with our fantastic loyal customers that we continue to secure such accolades. Receiving the award from the AA recognises all the effort and investment that we’ve made to make Cofton a premier destination for campers and caravanners looking to make memories in this beautiful corner of South Devon.”

Cofton Holidays is set within 80 acres of parkland with miles of nature trails and cycle paths that take visitors through woodland to the golden sands of Dawlish Warren beach and nature reserve. Its facilities include a heated indoor pool with a splash pad area and hydrotherapy loungers, a gym, restaurant, pub, steam room, sauna, fitness studio, soft play area, playground, sports wall, outdoor pools, five coarse fishing lakes and much more.

Free kids’ clubs take place each day throughout the school holidays, from Easter through to the October half term. Other free activities on site include the new £50,000 Woodland Adventure Area which features a 25m zip line, a climbing cage, rope ladders, balance beam, balance lines and scramble nets.
