Staff from a local Plymouth hospital celebrated this week after being awarded a coveted ‘Mile Maker’ plaque from the South West Coastal Path Association to thank them for its fundraising drive.
Over the past 12 month, colleagues at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Plymouth, have walked the length of the 630-mile coastal path and raised a total £1,794 – surpassing its target of £1500.
To thank the team and acknowledge their achievement, Emma Parkman, Head of Fundraising at the South West Coastal Path Association presented a prestigious ‘Mile Maker’ plaque and certificate to Hospital Director, Sarah Fell and team to proudly display at the hospital.
The hospital chose to fundraise for the South West Coastal Path during 2024 to help with its on-going preservation. The pathway is well-trodden by colleagues who regularly enjoy keeping fit and taking in the scenery. It’s also popular with the hospital’s patients, many of whom are now able to enjoy gentle walks again after hip and knee replacement surgery at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Plymouth.
Sarah Fell, Hospital Director, Practice Plus Group Hospital, Plymouth, says: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the fantastic ‘Mile Maker’ accolade from the South West Coast Coastal Path Association. All our walking has paid off! Our staff, friends, family and even pets have each contributed to our 630 mile challenge. Over the last year, we’ve all rallied to raise money for the cause through sponsored walks, bake sales and coffee mornings. We’re so proud to be part of the community in Plymouth and it is great to give back something to help preserve our beautiful landscape.”
Practice Plus Group Hospital, Plymouth, is able to treat hip and knee replacement patients via its Wellsoon Private Healthcare service and offers fast-access to surgery in as few as 4-6 weeks of seeing a consultant.
