With face coverings now becoming an everyday part of life, Stagecoach, the UK’s biggest bus and coach operator, has teamed up with makeup influencer Lucy Hart (@hartyyy on Instagram) to create a video showing customers how to keep their makeup in top shape whilst wearing a face covering.
Face coverings are now mandatory on all public transport including all Stagecoach bus services, and from 24 July, must be worn in shops and supermarkets. As more people return to using buses to get to work and for leisure activities such as shopping and eating out and meeting friends, there’s a conversation building online about how to achieve your best look whilst wearing a face covering, and more importantly without transferring makeup all over it.
To tap into the online debate, Stagecoach has worked with @hartyyy to create a tutorial to show audiences how best to do their makeup so that it stays on while taking your face covering on and off. In the video, Lucy Hart, a Manchester-based influencer and head artist at the Gypsie Shrine, does her makeup and then travels on a Stagecoach bus to Manchester to meet up with a friend. The video contains hints and tips on how to ensure your foundation and lipstick doesn’t smear over your face covering and stays in tact during a long day of shopping, eating and drinking.
Lucy also demonstrates the ease of using Stagecoach services to reconnect with friends, using contactless payment and travelling on a clean and safe bus service into Manchester city centre.
Catherine Acton-Brazier, Regional Director North for Stagecoach, said “As the country starts to return to a new kind of normal, with shops, restaurants and bars now open, we know that people will be using our bus services to get their social lives back on track and catch up on some post lockdown fun with friends.
“We know that people will want to look their best though, particularly for that important first selfie in the bar, coffee shop or shop, and with face coverings now becoming part of our normal everyday life, we wanted to give people a helping hand with that.
“We’re really pleased to have teamed up with @hartyyy to show how safe and easy it is to use our services, and at the same time, provide some hints and tips.
“We’ve put in lots of extra measures to ensure our services are Covid-19 secure, with enhanced daily cleaning, contactless payments, social distancing and our handy Busy Bus indicator, and people can have full confidence in travelling with us.”
Lucy added: “I know many people have been feeling anxious about going back to everyday tasks, such as catching public transport. So it’s important to show that masks are easy and comfortable to wear and everyone’s doing it for safety and respect to others.
“It’s also important to get your makeup techniques down to ensure you know all the hacks to help it stay put.
“I felt super safe while on the bus and I love the fact you can pay via contactless so you don’t have to touch anything whilst on board. I really like that face masks are mandatory too, I think it’s a respectful element that allows you to feel safer.”
