A huge blaze in Exeter has closed much of Exeter city centre this morning.

Emergency services remain on scene and the area around Exeter high Street is closed to the public.

Fire crews were called to the scene at around 5.20am

It is believed that the building affected is Laura Ashley.

The Royal Clarence Hotel has been evacuated as a precaution, and all staff and residents are accounted for.

There is likely to be traffic disruption due to road closures while the emergency services deal with the incident.
