Update: The Inner Harbour is now open.
Torquay’s Inner Harbour has been closed by police following a fire this morning, Thursday 6 April.
Four fire appliances were mobilised to the incident. Police and ambulance crews were also in attendance.
Smoke could be seen from across Torquay.
A spokesperson for Tor Bay Harbour Authority & Beaches said: “A speedboat berthed in the Inner Dock at Torquay caught fire early this morning. The harbour team and Fire Brigade attended and the fire was put out. There has been very little damage to other vessels and owners are being contacted.
The police have closed the Inner Harbour to all members of the public including boat owners for the time being. We are hoping to reopen the dock to owners as soon as possible.”
