Join the Torbay Racism Review meeting with Devon Partnership NHS Trust
Torbay Council has joined forces with Devon Partnership NHS Trust for the next Torbay Racism Review meeting on Monday 6th December.
The meeting will be with senior representatives from the Trust, to learn about the organisation and how it works to support its staff and people who use its services who are from BAME communities. The panel has already met with a number of organisations for the review including the local NHS, Devon and Cornwall Police, South Devon College and local Housing Providers, as well as recently with the Chair of the National Black Police Association.
Torbay residents are invited to join the meeting via Zoom and the panel will answer questions around the key line of enquiry, ‘How do we make Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic lives matter in Torbay?’
Councillor Jermaine Atiya-Alla who is leading the review for Torbay, said: “We look forward to meeting with our partners at Devon Partnership NHS Trust to discuss how we can all work together to tackle racism in the Bay, and encourage you to join the meeting online.
“We are particularly interested in looking at the work around mental health and our local black and minority ethnic communities as this can often be overlooked.”
Deputy Leader of Torbay Council Darren Cowell said: “The NHS is an essential partner and a huge part of all our lives so this is a really important meeting for our ongoing review.
“The Torbay Racism Review aims to engage with our local community, understand how some people are disadvantaged, and allow them the space and time to voice their experiences and views to civic leaders and local and national decision makers.”
