Lifeworks Learning Disability Champions have been shortlisted as finalist in the BBC Radio Devon Make A Difference Awards 2023, in The Together Award Category.
The Together Award is awarded to an individual or group of people who inspire diverse communities to come together. They do this by creating real change and breaking down barriers, bringing people from different walks of life together for a common cause.
CEO of Lifeworks Laura Fraser-Crewes said, “We are all so thrilled at this nomination and recognition, especially given the hundreds of entries into this years’ Awards. Our VISION is for an inclusive society where there is true equity, and where people with learning disabilities are valued, accepted, and empowered to fulfil their potential and our MISSION is to create opportunities for people with learning disabilities to have a great life. This recognition and awareness of our provisions continues to grow. Being nominated in The Together Award category really does sum up what Lifeworks is all about”.
All of our work has been developed in response to the needs of people with learning disabilities and their families. Our services include the provision of residential and short breaks, specialist further education, and numerous community projects with our young people leading the way.
Over the course of a year, we support 200 people with learning disabilities to have great lives. The way we do this is by creating opportunities so that the people we support can reach their full potential and are engaged with and valued by their communities.
