Local homebuilder lights up RNLI Torbay with donation of vital equipment on the charity’s 200th anniversary

In celebration of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI)’s 200th anniversary on 4th March, Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter proudly announces its contribution to RNLI Torbay with the donation of two cutting-edge LED searchlights, worth more than £800.

RNLI Torbay, based in Brixham, is one of the UK’s busiest lifeboat stations, and is run almost entirely by volunteers. Its lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour, all-weather rescue service, and have been saving lives in the waters around Torbay and out into the English Channel for over 150 years. Volunteer crew members come from all walks of life, but they all share one thing in common – a selfless, dedicated commitment to saving lives at sea.

The two new high-quality LED searchlights provided by Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter will enhance the capabilities of the RNLI Torbay’s inshore lifeboat crew, which regularly deals with callouts close to the coastline and in the dark.

Nicki Reid, sales director at Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter, said, “We are proud to support the Torbay RNLI station as the RNLI marks their 200th anniversary. We’re honoured to contribute towards their lifesaving efforts with this donation. We hope that these state-of-the-art searchlights will be helpful for RNLI Torbay’s nighttime searches, enabling them to continue their invaluable service to the community”.

Luke Netherton, Inshore Lifeboat Helm at RNLI Torbay, said, “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter for their contribution to our inshore lifeboat crew. As an organisation reliant on community support, such donations play a pivotal role in enabling us to carry out our lifesaving mission effectively. Thanks for lighting us up!”

With this donation, Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter reaffirms its commitment to supporting local initiatives that make a tangible difference in the community.
