M5 closed between junction 25 and 26 following fatal collision

Police have confirmed one person has died following a collision on the M5 this morning, Friday 9th February.

A number of people were also injured in the collision.

The incident closed the motorway both ways between junction 25 (Wellington) and Junction 26 (Taunton)

Emergency services were called to the scene around 6.15 am. Police, fire crews and ambulance crews along with 2 air ambulances attended.

A spokesperson for South West Ambulance Service NHS Foundation said: “We treated 10 patients in total with eight being taken in to hospital. Six patients were taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton by road ambulance and two were taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by air ambulance,”

The road could be closed for sometime.
