Major incident declared after suspect WW2 device found in Exeter

A major incident has been declared in Exeter after a suspected WW2 device was located.

A 100m cordon has been put in place around the Glenthorne Road area by police after they were called to reports of a possible unexploded WW2 device around 9.20am this morning, Friday 26 February.

A number of nearby properties are currently being evacuated with University of Exeter staff assisting with evacuating the nearby halls of residence.

The Navy EOD are also on scene and the incident is ongoing.

Police are advising to avoid the area where possible.
