Make the move to a healthier you at council’s March resident engagement event

Torbay Council’s next residents’ engagement event will be held on Friday 14 March at The Willows shopping centre in Torquay.

The event, outside Sainsbury’s from 10am until 4pm, will have a public health theme and will include representation from local health partners.

Residents will be able to get:

  • Cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes checks
  • Vaccine advice from NHS Devon
  • Smoking cessation and weight management tips from Your Health Torbay
  • General oral hygiene advice and information about our school supervised toothbrushing scheme from At Home Dental

Residents can also learn more about the Baton of Hope Torbay, a torch relay race taking place on 30 September which aims to raise awareness of mental health and suicide prevention.

These bi-monthly events are a chance for residents to meet councillors (of all parties) and council staff to talk about what matters to them. They also help capture thoughts and feedback on consultations, changes to policies and services.

Cllr Hayley Tranter, Cabinet Member for Adult and Community Services, Public Health and Inequalities, said: “This event is an excellent opportunity for people to learn more about maintaining good health and how to access vital services and I’m pleased that so many of our partners will be able to join us.”
