A man has been charged following reports of an assault and sexual assault in Torquay last weekend.
The incident was reported to have taken place between midnight and 3am on Sunday 20th January in the area of The Terrace.
The victim, a woman in hers 20s, is currently being supported by specialist officers.
Kevin Foale, aged 49, of Lister Way, Totnes has been charged with attempted rape. He was remanded in police custody and appeared at Plymouth Magistrates Court this morning, 25th January.
He was further remanded to appear at Exeter Crown Court on Thursday 28th February.
