A man who was stabbed at Plymouth train station this morning, 8th August has died.
Police were called to the incident at around 10am. The victim, a man in his 40s was taken to hospital but sadly died.
Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the station at 10am this morning and attended alongside colleagues from Devon and Cornwall Police.
Paramedics from the South Western Ambulance Service also attended and took a man in his 40s to hospital for treatment, but despite their best efforts, the man died.
An investigation involving detectives from British Transport Police and Devon & Cornwall Police is now under way and the station has been cordoned off whilst investigations take place at the scene.
A 29 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Senior Investigating Officer DCI Paul Langley, said: “This was an attack on a man in broad daylight at a busy station in Devon.
“We are now working to identify the man and inform his family.
“At this time, it is believed the two men knew each other and had an argument at the station, which resulted in one of the men assaulting the other. The victim was taken to hospital but he sadly died despite the best efforts of the medical teams.
“We are now asking anyone who may have been at Plymouth station this morning and witnessed what happened to come forward and speak to us. Any information, no matter how small, could prove vital in our enquiries.
“Together with Devon and Cornwall Police, we will have extra officers in the area in the coming days, so please do speak to them if you have any concerns at all. Thankfully, assaults such as this are very rare and we are doing everything to establish what has happened.”
