Photographer Jason Reading and model Ed Akay have been collaborating on creative
projects for a number of years, enjoying countless publications and 20 plus joint magazine covers worldwide so far (60 plus solo). This year they decided to give something back after enjoying their successes.

Ed, originally from an employment law background became aware, while providing pro bono legal services, of the sheer extent of mental health challenges so many people experience.

In particular there is often a social stigma that limits the ability of men to speak out openly about their mental health.

Ed and Jason decided to create a calendar with an emphasis on ‘pulling through struggle’ to help raise awareness of male mental health. They approached The Last Kiss Foundation, a local charity that is also passionate about addressing men’s mental wellbeing to collaborate on this creative.

Jason and Ed have agreed to donate 50% of the profit from sales to aid the foundation and
have gone on to produce a “fine art” merchandise range along with the calendar.

Ed Akay (Model) Says: “It is a real pleasure to work with such a fantastic local charity who have been prime movers in the Bay area in reducing mental health stigma.”

Keely Pierce & Annika Palmer (Co-Founders of the Last Kiss Foundation) Say: “We are very grateful to Ed and Jason for highlighting the importance of men reaching out and talking to others, especially when there has been a bereavement.”
