More than 1750 children and young people are expected to attend festival this weekend

The second Imagine This Torbay Festival brings together more than 50 voluntary and charity organisations, led by the Torbay Community Development Trust, to put youngsters in charge of envisaging what kind of Torbay they want to grow up in.

Three years ago, at the original festival at Parkfield in Paignton, more than 500 children and young people raised concerns about the environment, safer streets, greater access for all, emotional well-being, and hang out spaces.

On Saturday, more than 1000 children and young people are expected at Lupton House and on Sunday another 700 plus will be celebrating everything that the Imagine This… partnership has achieved over the last three years.

James Arthur, the Partnership Coordinator, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the response to this event, but by again putting young people in the lead we are expecting this fantastic turn out to what is a free family festival showcasing and celebrating all that our young people and partners in the Imagine This… partnership have achieved over the last three years

“A great deal of important work has been going on behind the scenes and we will be presenting the findings at this festival as well as looking to the future.

“The young people who have been working hard on their projects to make Torbay a great place to grow up have imagined and reimagined this festival, proving that they truly are the stuff of legend, something not to be missed.

“It is also an opportunity to have fun and we have a whole host of activities to suit all ages and interests.”

Among the activities available will be the Lego Masters Community, the Sound Communities Boom Bus, a silent disco, dungeons and dragon’s roleplay, superheroes, Lightsaber Academy, a dog show, Disney Princesses, and balloon modelling, to name but a few.
