Student nurses, registered adult nurses and those looking to return to practice are invited to a recruitment open day event at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust on Friday 2 February.
The event, which takes place from 10am until 4pm in the Horizon Centre at Torbay Hospital, offers a chance for nurses to find out more about the opportunities available within the Trust.
Attendees will get the opportunity to chat with staff about what it’s like to work at the Trust and learn more about the facilities and benefits on offer. There will also be the chance to undertake an interview and potentially receive a job offer on the day.
The open day is also being used to launch an exciting, new ‘Staff Nurse Rotation Programme’ which will see nursing staff on the scheme rotate between surgery, community and medicine divisions. The programme is open to experienced and newly qualified band five nurses and it will offer applicants:
• Permanent employment
• An 18 month programme covering surgery, community services and medicine
• An assigned Clinical Coach and the opportunity to participate in peer learning groups
• A bespoke programme of Continuous Professional Development tailored to support individual learning needs
• The opportunity to complete a Preceptorship Programme and specialty based competencies (surgical, community and medical).
At the end of the rotation, there will have the opportunity to continue onto another rotation or go to a specialist area. All posts will include rotation to night duty.
Judy Falcao, Director of Workforce and Organisational Development at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are looking for final year adult nursing students, Registered Nurses and Nurses wanting to return to practice who want to contribute to our vision of providing compassionate nursing.
“We have various permanent and bank opportunities available across our Trust. Working for our Trust offers a diverse range of career paths and we offer support and development opportunities to help our staff in their career choices.
“For adult student nurses who are looking for their first job, we provide an outstanding preceptorship programme, with support from a mentor and supervisor, and many opportunities for further training and development in their role in an innovative and supportive environment.
“We are also very excited about being able to offer our new ‘staff nurse rotation programme’. The scheme offers a fantastic opportunity for nurses toparticipate in rotations through different areas within the Trust and experience different nursing specialties, teams and environments. I would encourage as many nurses and student nurses to come along and find out more about the fantastic opportunities available within our Trust.
“We have a number of nursing options you may wish to consider and you will have the opportunity to have an interview. If successful, we will be offering positions within the Trust on the day. Whilst there is no need to register for the recruitment event and you can just turn up to find out more, we are encouraging attendees to apply online if you are interested in attending the recruitment day. Once you have submitted your application you will then be offered an interview time.”
