In collaboration with the National Union of Student (NUS), students from a number of current Foundation Degree programmes available at University Centre South Devon (UCSD) have been invited to participate in the exciting new future learning project ‘Placements for Good’.
With UCSD being one of only three higher education institutions nationwide who currently are participating in the innovative project, students will be presented with a unique opportunity to aspire towards becoming global citizens through real-world transformational work experiences.
The project will help tackle the growing demand from students wanting to further engage with sustainability learning and who can contribute to a just and sustainable society.
NUS have discovered that students identify work placements as the most relevant way to integrate sustainability into their learning, with Placements for Good aiming to support student employability and progress the social and environmental impact of the organisations they work for in response to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – ‘Global Goals’ for 2030 (SDGs).
Alastair Wilson, Head of Higher Education and Academic Registrar said, “At UCSD we deliver high quality, employability focused programmes and working with NUS on this pilot will provide our students with the excellent opportunity to engage in activities to enhance their employability post-graduation”.
Through seeking partnerships with social, environmental and economic benefits, for many aspiring UCSD students, Placements for Good will provide the start for a successful future career in the sustainability area. He scheme aims to connect talented university and college students with forward-thinking ambitious charities, public-sector organisations and businesses for future employment opportunities.
