Earlier this week, Torbay Council added matched funding of £5,000 to ensure no-one in the Bay goes hungry during the current crisis.

A spokesperson for Lumentum said: “We have made the donation on behalf of Lumentum and its local staff at Paignton to the Torbay Food Alliance to help fund the support being provided to our local Torbay Community as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.”

Twelve organisations have come together working with the council, the Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust and Torbay Community Development Trust to coordinate transport and delivery of food parcels.
Demand on the foodbanks during the crisis is at an all-time high with requests in some areas more than doubling whilst donations from individuals are falling.

In its two weeks, the Alliance has provided have delivered 746 food parcels for people struggling to feed their families and provided 2162 meals to some of the Bay’s most vulnerable.

Donations to the Crowdfunder: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/torbay-food-alliance and all gifts, no matter how small will go to provide food for families and individuals in Torbay.
