Paignton Girlguiding leader spreading packs of fun

As schools break up and all non essential meetings to protect from Covid-19 the leaders from 4th Paignton Brownies and Rainbows has a simple message, ‘Keep calm and keep Guiding’ as they have released daily activity tasks for anyone to take part in Louisa, a leader at 4th Paignton, which normally meets in Foxhole had this to say about the idea. ‘I have three children so I understand how easy it is for them to become bored especially when stuck at home. I first thought about running our normal meetings online then I considered how we could extend this to the wider community.’

Each day 4th Paignton Brownies and Rainbows releases a new activity that anyone can do. ‘We have
considered activities that anyone can take part in no matter of age or ability, our main aim is to help keep everyone entertained.’

That’s not where it ends, when sending out activity packs to the members of their units an idea struck.
‘Once we had finished packing up the activity packs, it felt like there should be more we could do, that was when we really wanted to figure out a way to extend our activity packs. Our ideal plan is to distribute to food banks and similar places so they can hand them to children who need them.’

‘The only thing that is stopping us is the materials what we really need might seem simple but as we run as a charity we have limited resources so what we are asking for is donations of pipe cleaners, pom
poms, lolly pop sticks, plain white paper and flower seeds if anyone can help please contact us on our
Facebook page www.facebook.com/4thpaigntonbrownies ’

If you have a spare second we highly recommend that you check out the activities posted on their
Facebook, a new one is posted every day and it is free and open to everyone to take part.
Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. We build girls’ confidence and raise their aspirations. We give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good. We give them a space to have fun.
