Paigton’s famous milk bottle has been knocked down in a collision.
The well known landmark is on the junction of Cecil Road and Torquay Road.
The Milk Bottle, originally made of wood is from a former dairy. It was replaced with concrete in 1997. A time capsule was placed inside by the children of Oldway primary school.
The wall outside local business ‘Mr Mortgages’ on which the milk bottle was placed has been severely damaged. The bottle itself does not appear to have sustained much damage, appearing to be in one piece.
A local resident told us: “It was fine yesterday when I walked past, this is sad to see. Everyone knows the milk bottle. We used it for directions.”
The collision involving a dark coloured saloon is believed to have happened overnight. It is not thought anyone was injured in the collision.
