The exciting new money-saving My Bay scheme has opened for people who live in Torbay.
The key benefits of the scheme include:
· an extra hour of parking at Council-run pay-and-display car parks
· £10 worth of entry to public toilets
· access to a range of offers and discounts with local businesses and attractions.
The My Bay scheme is designed to help residents save money and to support the Torbay economy by encouraging spending in the local area.
People aged 16 and over living in Torbay can now apply for the scheme via a link on the My Bay web page or their My Torbay account.
The ‘early bird’ public sign-up period runs from Monday 2 September to 8 November 2024.
After an application is verified and a £10 fee to cover administration costs is paid, the My Bay card and parking permit will be posted out. They will be good to use for 15 months from 1 January 2025 to March 2026.
Cllr Adam Billings, Cabinet Member for Pride in Place and Parking, said: “I’m delighted My Bay is now ready and I would urge people to sign up for this great scheme.
“We want to help people get more value for their money and to support the fantastic local businesses and attractions we have in Torbay.
“We hope My Bay will inspire more people to get out and about more to make the most of living in our beautiful Bay.”
Cllr David Thomas, Leader of the Council, said: “My Bay is a win-win for residents and businesses alike. I would encourage our residents to find out more and see how they can make the most of the scheme.
“A small initial fee will unlock savings with offers and discounts at local businesses and attractions, free parking, and a concession at public toilets.
“Businesses can still get in touch to add their offers and attract more customers all year round.”
Residents will need to provide evidence that their main home is in Torbay when applying for the My Bay card.
The parking benefits are delivered by a parking permit to be displayed in the vehicle.
To receive the parking permit, residents only need to provide evidence of a driving licence and V5 vehicle registration document with the same name and Torbay address.
The £10 sign-up fee will be waived for care experienced people living in Torbay, and for unpaid carers who are registered with Torbay Carers as a thank-you for the work they do in their caring role.
Terms and conditions apply to the scheme and offers. There is more information on their website for residents and businesses.
