Performing Arts Centre to jazz up Plymstock School
The new Performing Arts Centre at Plymstock School has undergone an exciting facelift thanks to the incredible Mrs Murals.
Award-winning, talented local artist Ellie Johnson, better known as Mrs Murals, has painted the eye-catching artwork on the outside of the new Centre. The theme reflects the theatre, drama and musical performances which take place in the state-of-the-art Centre.
Mrs Murals said “I was thrilled to be chosen to provide the artwork & signwriting for this exciting project! I wanted to create something which reflects all the performances and education which will take place in the new building. It’s a great addition to the community.”
“The space is amazing; it is a state-of-the-art, professional grade performance and audience space. It uses some of the latest lighting, visual and sound technology. It also has a ‘dance-ready’ sprung wooden floor and a fully electronically retractable seating bank, which can, in seconds, transform the area into one huge open performance space.”
Head of Performing Arts at Plymstock School, Chris Swabey, is delighted with the finished design. “We were extremely excited to secure Mrs Murals for this project, to create a statement feature on the exterior of the building, to match the quality of facilities inside. Participation and access to the arts is highlighted as having a transformative impact on the lives of young people, especially by the EEF (Education Endowment Foundation). Ellie’s incredible design helps to celebrate our school’s commitment to providing a wide variety of arts opportunities for all students at Plymstock, whilst helping to enhance the aesthetic environment within our local community- it is an incredible, unique feature.”
